Perinatal psychologist · CRP 04/78214
Kelly Oliveira
I chose to care for women during the season when they are asked to give the most and asked the least about how they are actually doing.
Who I am
I am a psychologist with postgraduate training in Perinatal Psychology and in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, registered with the Brazilian Regional Council of Psychology under licence CRP 04/78214, and my work is dedicated to the perinatal period.
Perinatal is a long word for a very specific season of life: the one that begins when a woman decides or tries to have a child, and continues through pregnancy, birth, the postpartum and the first years with a baby. It is a period in which the body changes, identity changes, relationships change, and almost nobody asks how you are coping with any of it.
I ask. And more than asking, I stay. I stay with whatever is hard to say, whatever feels ugly to feel, whatever you think nobody would understand. Guilt, anger, regret, relief, indifference, fear. None of it frightens me, and none of it makes you a worse mother.
Nobody told me I would feel like this. That is the sentence I hear most, and it is the reason I do what I do.
What to expect
How I work
No standard protocol
Every woman arrives with a different story, and I do not believe in the same protocol for everyone. In the first sessions I listen a great deal and speak very little, because I need to understand your context before proposing any direction. After that we decide the focus together, and we revisit it whenever life changes, which in the perinatal period happens often.
At your pace, including your baby's pace
If the baby cries in the middle of a session, that is fine. If you need to breastfeed while we talk, that is fine. If you arrive late because the night was terrible, that is fine too. Life with a small baby does not fit into perfect timing, and my practice was designed with that in mind.
Non-judgemental is not a figure of speech
Many women wait months before asking for help because they are afraid of being judged. Afraid of saying that they regret it, that they do not feel the love they expected to feel, that they thought about giving up. My room exists precisely for those sentences. Nothing you say leaves it, and nothing you say changes the way I look at you.
Ethics and confidentiality, always
All care follows the Brazilian Psychologist Code of Ethics and, for online work, Resolution CFP 11/2018. Confidentiality is a professional obligation, not a courtesy. This website stores administrative data only, and nothing discussed in session is recorded here.
A note on language
I work in Brazilian Portuguese. Therapy lives in nuance, in the exact word someone chooses, in what is said and not said. I would not be able to do this work properly in a language I do not hold with that precision, so I do not offer it. If you are a Portuguese speaker anywhere in the world, you are very welcome here.

The first session is for us to meet and understand what you need. You take on no commitment to continue.
